Meet The Band

"I COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR A BETTTER FAMILY!"

Menachem Herman's band, known in Israel as the Menachem Herman Orchestra - MHO, is a successful, well-seasoned group, based in Israel, a top class act. The range of musical variety & style played is a work of art, the evening’s music tailored to taste with ease & elegance.
Menachem builds up your evening musically, satisfying standard to diverse musical tastes. A master at guiding the crowd, bringing Authentic heart warming Simcha to every event. With 25+ year's experience, playing with the top stars on the Jewish music scene, Menachem's band has evolved into the only band of its kind, qualitative, personal & progressive.
Traveling with a personal sound engineer, Menachem will not compromise his sound quality no matter where on the globe he performs. This is the MHO Trademark of Excellence.

Natan Malchi Menachem's engineer, with years of studio & sound system experience, is a solid member of the band. Making sure equipment runs smoothly & sounds as it must. Menachem uses “State of the Art” sound system, & members use in ear monitors for exact, quality sound. Sound is kept in balance & corrected according to the flow of the evening.
Natan’s sound crew is at the venue hours before the event.
Note: Although MHO plays for all types of crowds, they do not play for mixed dancing.
This band works together in Israel & Abroad as a team, knowing what is expected of them & giving the crowd what they came for…you will also find them getting together with their wives & children on Shabbat & Holidays, signing for each others mortgages, laughing, sharing & enjoying each others company. When they work, they work, when they play, they play!
MHO consists of 8 players & 1 sound engineer & all are sight readers.

Natan Malchi – Sound Engineer:

Natan Malchi
Grew up in Israel, parents from Yemen, Morocco. Sound Engineer par Excellence. Where Menachem goes he goes, top engineer in Israel, a dedicated ear for us. He can get us out of any tight spot, any tech problem, and has a clear, level head in a crisis, an invaluable member of the team.

Avi Israel – Keyboard, Grand Piano and back up vocals:

Avi Israel
Grew up in Hungary, moved to Israel in his 20's. Only someone like Avi can know any song at the drop of a hat – no matter what style, no matter how old or new of a tune. Although being partial to jazz tunes, jazz rock & classic rock, he does love his piano, let him sit & play & he's in heaven.

Avi learned songs while peeling potatoes in the army off an old transistor radio & can remember a tune like someone with a photographic memory can remember a page of writing. Let him hear the first bar - & we're good.

He continues to play in the Israeli army band in between working with Menachem. He got his formal music education informally. He's Menachem's right hand man, rain or shine.

Tomer Buchnic – Trumpet

Tomer Buchnic
Grew up in Israel, parents are from Tunisia. Now there's Tomer, a forward thinker, opinionated & an on the spot analyst. Loves to roam a new city we play in & always gets lost, but does make friends wherever he goes. When he's not gigging with us, he is the #1 engineer for the studio of Channel 2 - Israel's national TV station. He got his formal education in Tel Aviv music school in Israel. Graduated from there & went on to teach & play clubs, until Menachem found him.

Ruvain Marantz – Sax, Clarinet, Flute

Ruvain Marantz
Grew up in New York – moved to Israel in his late 20's. Our Ruvain, changes hats from clarinet, to flute to sax, depending on what the song needs, he saves us money! He has a big heart, & flows with the general din of craziness when together, always trying to bring the band into focus, he's a sport, no matter what the situation. By day, he is a Torah teacher for children.

Jonathan Hill – Trombone, Classical Guitar and back up vocals

Jonathan Hill
A true New Yorker - he moved to Israel in the 1990. Jonathan grew up in a home with a famous father, Steven Hill from “Mission Impossible” show, then later “Law and Order” – he is always at home on stage.

His trombone has been the latest addition of the group as of 2009 and now makes up our authentic horn section. His vocal harmonies are dynamic and his guitar duo with Menachem adds a special tone to the evening. His smile is infectious and although a new member, is a dedicated follower of Menachem's style.

Yoni Madar – Drummer

Yoni Madar
Grew up in Israel – Parents from Morocco. Yoni, the bands glue, his nick name, Jonny Star. When he’s around we laugh, he has a one of a kind humor! When we sit down to a meal, we get a nutrition rating as he eats the tops off all of our parfait deserts & then pops vitamins…He's dedicated to being part of the gang, but his tongue will spare no one. You want the truth, ask Yoni. Not one to mince words, but the first one to come to your rescue! He is actually a better guitar player than Menachem, so we keep him close!

Danny Freedman - Violin

Danny Freedman
Born in Germany, - grew up in London, moved to Israel in his late 20"s. Danny is our "on time", do it right man & is a pleasure to travel with.

His show is a culmination of Jewish classics & you name it. Graduate of London's music academy, he is worth his weight in gold, & a solo spot for a thrill of a classical injection is where he shines.

Hillel Herman – Percussionist

Hillel Herman
Born and raised in Israel - yes, Menachem oldest son. He had a good teacher. Unlike Menachem's parents that made him change instruments from the drums to something "quieter", Hillel got a real set of drums for his Bar Mitzvah & banged for years with private teachers; he moved onto percussion from that. If he plays with Menachem, he has made his mark, & is now a formal member of Menachem's band.
